Biniam Girmay, a 17 year old promising cyclist from Eritrea, wants to participate in the Tour de France. Over four years we follow his evolving performances, first during the big African tours, then in a European pro team. But Europe is not in a hurry to grant Eritreans a visa, fearing they will disappear as refugees. Biniam also discovers the cold, he isn’t used to and that you need friends in the race, if you ever want to win. When he marries in Eritrea and becomes a father, the distance of 6.000 kms takes its toll. But against all odds, Biniam climbs up the international rankings. When at age 23, he wins his first ‘Classic’, he proves African riders can win and becomes a cycling hero overnight. Will Biniam Girmay change cycling forever?
